FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Don't see your question answered below?

Do you only work with pregnant women?

NOPE! Although I am passionate about working with this chronically underserved population, many of my clients have never had children.

My husband/boyfriend/brother/bestie desperately needs a massage.

Do you only work with women?

NOPE! I do work with men as well.

What style of massage do you offer?

This is a little tough to answer. My style is generally known as Zen Massage. It basically means that I ask your body to release areas of holding/tension, but I don't force the release. You are ultimately in control and I facilitate. I do this by incorporating many different modalities that I have studied over the years including Swedish, Deep Tissue, CranioSacral Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy, Shiatsu, Acupressure, Cupping, Gua Sha, Auriculotherapy, Myofascial Release, Active Assisted Stretching, Percussive Therapy, Thermotherapy, and Aromatherapy among others.

Do you take insurance?

YES AND NO.

I do not take insurance directly, but I do accept FSA/HSA Cards for payment at the time of service. Alternatively, you can pay me out of pocket with cash, Venmo or Zelle and I can provide you with a "SuperBill" with my National Provider ID to submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement.  *Please check with your provider regarding their requirements.*

I'm pregnant in my first trimester and tried to go to a spa but they wouldn't let me book an appointment. Can I book with you?

Unless you have been directed otherwise by your medical provider (usually because of medications or a pre-existing condition), I can work with you from before conception, through your first, second and third trimesters, right up until you go into labor! For Postnatal, I can work with you as soon as you get cleared by your healthcare provider for massage.

How long are your sessions?

I offer 60min, 90min, and 120min sessions. The general rule is that the more you have troubling you, the longer the session you should book so we have time to address everything. 60 minutes is ideal for general relaxation or as a follow-up appointment. 90 minutes allows time to address larger issues/areas of tension. 120 minutes is the best way to make sure we have time to cover multiple issues in a full body session.

What forms of payment to you accept?

I accept cash, Venmo, Zelle, FSA/HSA and other Credit Cards (+$5 fee for all credit cards), and gift certificates.

I want to gift a massage to a friend. Do you sell gift certificates?

I do! You can purchase them here.

Do you take walk-ins?

No. All of my sessions are by appointment only. If you would like to try to book a last minute appointment (less than 24hrs notice), please reach out to me via email or text and I will do my best to accommodate you based on my availability. Please note that appointments made with less than 24hrs notice cannot be cancelled or rescheduled without charge.

What if I am running late to my appointment?

Please reach out to me via text as soon as possible if you know you are running late. While I try to be accommodating wherever I can, if I have a client booked after you, your session may have to be shortened, but we'll get you on the table and get started as soon as possible to maximize your treatment time.

I never know if I'm supposed to talk during a massage or not.

Some people find that talking helps them relax and gets their mind off of things. Other people prefer to zone out. You don't need to worry about keeping me entertained, but if talking helps you relax, I'm happy to chat with you. Alternatively if you would like a silent massage, I am happy to accommodate that as well.

What if I need you to adjust the pressure or if I'm too hot or cold during my session?

Your session is your time. If you need me to make adjustments to pressure, table temperature, music volume, face cradle position, etc. please let me know and I will be happy to help. I don't constantly check-in during the session because I don't want to pull you out of relaxation, but l am always ready to help make you more comfortable/help you get more out of your time with me.

When does my session time start?

Your session time starts when you get on the table. I ask that you arrive five minutes before your session to give us time for an intake/in case you need to use the bathroom before we get started and so that you don't feel rushed getting settled.

I woke up with a cold today but my body really hurts.

Can I still come in for my massage?

Even though you're sore and achy, getting a massage while you're sick will likely just make you feel worse. Plus, if you are sick you may get me sick and I could pass it on to other clients. Even if you are giving me less than 24hrs notice, I would prefer you reschedule your appointment if you are feeling unwell and let me know as soon as possible.

What if I fall asleep during my massage?

Falling asleep during a massage is one of the greatest compliments I can receive - it means that you are truly at ease! It happens all the time and is nothing to be embarrassed about.

I love getting my scalp massaged. Can you please do that?

Of course! A knot in your shoulder doesn't mean we ignore everything else. Besides: it's all connected! If there is something that makes you feel relaxed and taken care of (like scalp or hand or foot massage or being stretched) please let me know so that I can be sure to include it during your session.

What should I do if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

Please note that I have a 24 hour policy for cancelling and rescheduling. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please email or text me as soon as possible. Cancellations without 24 hour notice may result in a charge for your session, as that time has been set aside specifically for you.

Can I work out the same day I get a massage?

You certainly can, but to get the most benefit from your massage, it would be best to work out beforehand. Working out immediately after your session could cause strain to your body or result in your being tired and accidentally injuring yourself. The exception is if you have booked a pre-event sports massage which is a session specifically tailored to get you ready for a race, etc.

By appointment only.
